Dr. Aust is a resident of Mandeville and native of Southern California. He received his undergraduate degrees from the University of California, Riverside in Neuroscience and Anthropology. He received his Degree of Medicine from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Aust then completed a residency in Anesthesiology at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, where he was recognized as resident of the year. After completing his residency, Dr. Aust was accepted to the ACGME Fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Aust is Double Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Board Certified in Interventional Pain Medicine. He has presented on the subject of Spinal, Epidural, and Caudal Anesthesia at UCLA and is published on the subject of non-opioid analgesics. He has also performed research involving cervical epidural steroids injections at UCLA’s Department of Pain Management and other research at UC Riverside’s Department of Neuroscience.
Dr. Aust trained extensively with difficult cases referred to UCLA as a last resort. At UCLA, he gained experience with intrathecal medication management for terminal cancer patients, and implantation of intrathecal delivery systems for many types of pain. He also has interest in continuing to use the newest in advanced Neuromodulation techniques he learned at UCLA in order to provide significant pain relief often without pain medication.
